Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old grandmother and mother of television personality Savannah Guthrie, was kidnapped from her bed in Tucson, Arizona's Catalina Foothills neighborhood on January 31st. The investigation has been severely hampered by the area's deliberately darkened lighting conditions, maintained for astronomical research purposes, and by extremely rugged mountainous terrain that makes evidence collection difficult. Two ransom notes were received following the abduction, with one demanding millions in bitcoin and another claiming the victim had died and expressing the perpetrator's regret.
